PURPOSE: To obtain a novel piperidine derivative which can be simply produced in an industrial scale in lowered costs and is useful as a hypotensor because it has excellent hypotensive and antiserotonine actions.
CONSTITUTION: 1-(4-Aminosulfonyl-α-methylcinnamyl)-4-5H-dibenzo[a,d] cycloheptene-5-ylidene)piperidine represented by formula I. The piperidine derivative of formula I is obtained by deriving 4-aminosulfonyl-α-methylcinnamic acid n-butyl of formula III from 4-aminosulfonyl-1-bromobenzene of formula II, treating the product with sodium hydroxide into sodium 4-aminosulfonyl-α- methylcinnamate, then converting the product into a compound of formula IV, and allowing the product to react with 4-(5H-dibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene-5- ylidene)piperidine of formula V.
