Title:
PISTON RING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61136060
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable the use of a piston ring under a high temperature condition, by a method wherein an inner ring, having a thermal expansion rate higher than that of an outer ring, is coupled integrally with the outer ring. CONSTITUTION:A piston ring 21 is constituted such that an inner ring 23 is coupled integrally with an outer ring 22 by welding, plating, or banking. The outer ring 22 is formed by, for example, a heat resistant water resistance metal, such as sterite, beryllium steel, SKD steel, SKD6, SKD11. Meanwhile, a metal, having a thermal expansion rate and heat to resistance higher than those of the outer ring 22, is used for the inner ring 23. When the piston ring is under a high temperature state, the piston ring produces a force which is intended to increase diameter because of the thermal expansion rate of the inner ring being higher than that of the outer ring, resulting in firm adhesion of the outer ringto the inner ring.
