PURPOSE: To preclude the tip of a plane blade from being damaged at the time of lowering the head to the lower limit position.

CONSTITUTION: A recessed part 7a is formed within the contact region of a blade table 3 in the upper portion of a guide 7, and a resillent member or resin member 9 is fixed in the recessed part 7a so that it is flush with the upper surface of the guide 7. In this condition, even when an operator erroneously lowers the head 4 to the lower limit position in a state of the guide table 2 attached to the upper portion of the table 2, the blade tip 10a of the plane blade 10 contacts to the resilient member or resin member 9, thus, preventing the blade tip 10a from being damaged.
