PURPOSE: To easily obtain a driving circuit and to form a highly efficient plane display device by providing plural signal electrodes and plural scanning electrodes whose pitch is several times as much as that of the scanning electrodes through a discharge space, and parting the discharge space by plural insulating partition walls.

CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal panel part 10 is provided with a full surface electrode 13 on one side of a display screen, and plural first scanning electrodes 17 on the opposite side by sandwiching a liquid crystal 15 with these electrodes. The discharge space 25 divides a plasma display panel 20 into upper and lower parts. A plasma display panel 20 is provided with an anode 22 which is arranged as plural signal electrodes as if the anode 22 crosses the plural first scanning electrodes 17 in the upper part of the display screen. A cathode 26 is provided in lower part opposite of display panel and in the same direction of the plural first scanning electrodes 17. The cathode 26 is arranged as plural second scanning electrodes whose pitch is several times as much as that of the plural electrodes 17. In addition, since the plural insulting partition walls 24 dividing the discharge space 25 are provided in gasp of the anode 22, the driving circuit is simplified. Therefore, the device with high efficiency in emitting light can be obtained.
