Abstract:
Apparatus for moving a wing section (14) that extends along and is pivotally movable with respect to an aircraft wing structure (10), the wing structure extending outwardly from a fuselage to a wing tip, which apparatus comprises a torque shaft (22) adapted to extend outwardly through such wing towards said tip; motor means (24) for rotating said shaft; rotary actuator means (26) adapted to be disposed adjacent said tip and operatively connected to said torque shaft for driving said movable wing section at a reduced speed in response to rotation of said torque shaft (22); and a return shaft (30) operatively connected to said rotary actuator means (26) to be driven at said reduced speed, said return shaft extending through said wing towards said motor means (24) and being adapted to be connected to said movable wing section for transmitting forces from said rotary actuator (26) means to said movable wing section (14).
