To provide a plasma display apparatus controlling a rotation number of a cooling fan using electronic program guide data and voice data so as to reduce ambient noise by the cooling fan.
A plasma display apparatus comprises: a signal receiver receiving a broadcast signal that has a program data with electronic program guide data; an EPG data processor storing the received electronic program guide data; a data comparison unit comparing the electronic program guide data a user specified with the stored electronic program data and outputting a control signal for a fan rotation number based on a comparison result thereof; a voice detection unit detecting hand clap or cheer from voice data included in the received program data and outputting a signal showing presence/absence of detection based on a detecting result thereof; a panel control unit outputting information of the fan rotation number to control the fan rotation number based on the control signal for the fan rotation number and the signal showing presence/absence of detection; and a fan control unit controlling the fan rotation based on the information of the fan rotation number.
