Abstract:
The plasmid pUC2 can be obtained from the microorganism Streptomyces fradiae, NRRL 11444. The plasmid can be used as a cloning vehicle in recombinant DNA work. By way of example, the insulin gene can be inserted into the plasmid and then a suitable host containing the resulting plasmid can be used to produce insulin.
