Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cable having a large number of openings to reduce optical loss by bending, durable against on-vehicle chemical, and stable even at high temperature and high humidity, by providing a specific adhering layer and a specific coating layer outside a bare wire of the plastic optical fiber comprising a core and a sheath. SOLUTION: The outside of a bare wire 7 of a plastic optical fiber comprising a core 1 and a sheath 2 is provided with a 2 μm-50 μm thick adhering layer 4 comprising 40-62 mol% vinylidene fluoride component, 28-40 mol% tertafluoroethylene component, and 8-22 mol% hexafluoropropene component. A coating layer 5 made of a 50-700 μm nylon 12 resin is applied to a periphery of the adhering layer 4. A 5-25 μm thick protective layer 3 made of a vinylidene fluoride-based resin containing more than 65 mol% vinylidene fluoride component and Shore D hardness (ASTMD 2240) at 23 deg.C of 50-75 is preferably contained between this sheath 2 and the adhering layer 4.
