Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a lens having high refractive index and higher impact strength by using a radically polymerizable polyfunctional monomer such as divinyl benzene as the vinyl monomer.

CONSTITUTION: The lens comprises a copolymer of a monomer mixture consisting of 50W90wt%, pref. 60W70wt% component A and 10W50wt%, pref. 30W 40wt% component B, wherein said component A consists of a di- or tri(meth) acrylate formed by the reaction of mono(meth)acrylate having a halogen substituted arom. ring with the functional groups of a polyfunctional compd. having 2W3 functional groups, and said component B is a radically polymerizable polyfunctional monomer C except A or a monomer mixture consisting of ≥20wt% C with other vinyl monomer.
