Abstract:
To provide a plastic multifilament type optical fiber and optical cable which are wide in a transmission band and little in bending loss.
The average diameter of island parts of the plastic multifilament type optical fiber formed by covering ≥3 island parts with a resin having the refractive index lower than the refractive index of a resin forming these island parts is ≥2 μm in average spacings between the adjacent island parts of 40 to 300 μm in the average diameter of the island parts.
