Abstract:

To provide a POF cable which exhibits very small transmission loss under a long term high temperature environment of 100°C to 105°C.

In the plastic primary coated optical fiber, the core is made of a copolymer of polymethyl methacrylate or equal to or more than one kind of vinyl monometric unit and a methyl methacrylate unit, a first clad is made of a fluorine alkyl (metha)crylate having fluorine alkyl group of (1 to 12) carbon atom unit (A) 15 to 90 mass% and a monometric unit (B) 10 to 85 mass% which is capable of copolymerization with others, the glass transition temperature in a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is equal to or higher than 90°C and the refractive index of the copolymer is within a range of 1.39 to 1.475 and a second clad is made of fluorinated olefin series resin which at least includes a tetrafluoroethylene unit and has crystal heat of fusion equal to or less than 40mJ/mg in the DSC.
