To simplify the manufacturing process of the reflection surface of a reflection type liquid crystal display device which are manufactured by many processes and also to provide a plastic substrate for display element, which has a reflection surface in itself by making a substrate which is conventionally manufactured of glass, from plastic and moreover to provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device using the plastic substrate.

This substrate is a plastic substrate for display element having an uneven cross-sectional shape at least on the surface of one side of the substrate and the uneven cross-sectional shape of the substrate is produced by a transfer by an embossment roll or a lamination.
