Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a plated product having a chromate film of a uniform golden color on a nickel plating film, by placing an oxidation stage between a nickel plating stage and an electrolytic chromation stage. CONSTITUTION:Nickel plating is applied on an article such as a steel plate by an ordinary method. The plating is allowed to stand in air or is electrolyzed in a neutral or alkaline electrolytic soln., so that the whole or part of the surface of the nickel plating film is oxidized. The plating film is then subjected to an electrolytic chromation treatment by using a chromate treating soln. of about 25-300g/l concn. of Cr VI ion. whereby the chromate film having a golden color is formed. The decorative product or the like exhibiting high corrosion resistance and having a beautiful and uniform golden chromate film is obtained by the above-mentioned method.
