Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating pathological states mediated through PAF-AH (platelet activating factor acetylhydrolase) and a pharmaceutical composition therefor.
SOLUTION: The treating method includes a process of administering PAF-AH purified from human plasma, fragments thereof having an enzymatic activity or the pharmaceutical composition including them to mammals, wherein the mammals are or are doubted in the pathological state mediated through the PAF-AH, in an amount sufficient to supplement endogenous PAF-AH and to inactivate pathological amounts of PAF.
