Abstract:
A jig used to both space and form pleats (15). The jig has one finger (30) which abuts a datum surface on a previously formed pleat (15) the datum surface being either a sew line (46) or the loop (45) and another finger (23) over which the material is folded to form a loop, so that each pleat is located from the previously formed pleat. The pleats can be sewn whilst being retained in location by the jig, when the jig is associated with means which locate it with respect to the needle of a sewing machine (37).
