Abstract:
To provide a plugged honeycomb structure capable of preventing a soot adhesion pressure loss from increasing due to PM deposition on a surface of a barrier.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure includes: a honeycomb structural part 4 in a columnar shape having a porous barrier 1 arranged to surround a plurality of cells 2; and plugged parts 5 arranged on any one side of open end parts of the cells 2. In a cross section orthogonal to an extension direction of the cells 2, a gross area of inflow cells 2a is larger than a gross area of outflow cells 2b. A porosity of the barrier 1 is 38% or more. A thickness of the barrier 1 is 125 to 280 μm. A cell density of the honeycomb structural part 4 is 31.0 pcs./cm2 or more. A permeation resistance of the barrier 1 is 4.5×107 Pa s/m2 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
