Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing dot density switching system capable of coping with various printing patterns and having high reliability by providing a combined lens system unit movably holding at least two lenses out of plural lenses in an optical axis direction and a driving mechanism for the unit.
SOLUTION: A light beam outgoing from a light source 1 is separated to four beams by an optical branching element 2 and converged on a modulator 4 by a condenser lens 3. The light beam outgoing from the modulator 4 is transmitted to a roof prism 6 through the combined lens system unit 14 constituted of the lenses 12 and 13, a 1st optical system 5 and a mirror 7. Four beams are rotated by specified amount at the prism 6 so as to obtain an appropriate beam interval on a photoreceptor 11. Thereafter, the beams pass a cylinder lens 8, are converged only in a subscanning direction on a rotary polygon mirror 9, deflected to perform scanning and form an image on the photoreceptor 11. The unit 14 is attached to/detached from an optical path by a driving mechanism 15.
