PURPOSE: To develop the equal transport faculty to the case where a plurality of elevators are installed in the horizontal direction, keeping the sectional area of an elevator passage small, by arranging a plurality of cages which are arranged in the upper and lower parts in the elevation operation, in the horizontal direction on a getting-on field.

CONSTITUTION: A main rope 6 performs an elevation/lowering movement by suspending an elevation body frame 9, and a plural cage type elevator installation is constituted from a turning shaft 8, turning frame 9, cage suspending shaft 10, and cages 11. Then, an elevator passage lower spread part 2 and an elevator passage upper spread part 4 are the spread parts of the elevator passage which is installed in connection with the upper and lower parts of the elevator passage vertical part 1, and four cages 11 can be arranged horizontally by turning the turning frame 9. The passengers in four cages can get on/off directly from the horizontal getting on/off field at the lower part getting-on field 3 and the upper part getting-on field 5. Accordingly, since all the cages are faced to the same getting-on field on the same floor when the passengers get on/off, the passengers can be uniformly distributed to all the cages.
