Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of a retrieving time even at the time of increasing the retrieving number of price look up(PLU) data because of the increase of the number of point of sales(POS) devices connected to a PLU server.
SOLUTION: When a key (PLU code) is bar-code-inputted, a first POS device 100 refers to a key dividing table 110 to transmit the key to the first PLU server device 200, e.g. of a pertinent server device number. The first PLU server device 200 refers to a PLU table 210 to retrieve a pertinent product name and its price and sends them back to the first POS device 100. The first POS device 100 executes sales register based on the sent back product name and its price. When a third PLU server device 800 is added, the contents of the key dividing tables of each PLU server device and each POS device are updated corresponding to the value of the key of a PLU table in the third PLU server device 800.
