PURPOSE: To prepare a plywood preservative composition having high penetrability of the effective component into the wood tissue and excellent antiseptic activity, by adding a composition composed of a salicylanilide and optionally an organo-tin compound to an adhesive.
CONSTITUTION: A preservative composition composed of (A) a compound of formula (R1 is H, halogen, or lower alkyl; R2 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, or nitro; R3 is H or lower alkyl; R4 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl, etc.; R5 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; R6 is H, halogen, or nitro), and optionally (B) a trialkyltin compound and/or triaryltin compound. The composition can be mixed to an adhesive without lowering the adhesive strength, and the effective components are easily penetrated into the wood tissue, thus giving an excellent antiseptic activity.
