To obtain a pneumatic tire in which a carcass layer can be formed easily, and rigidity in the tire radial direction is improved and to provide a method for producing the pneumatic tire.

In a carcass layer forming process, a carcass belt-shaped member 44 including carcass cords 30 is stuck on a core 42 so that an inclination angle θ2 to the core radial direction of the cords 30 from one side part 50 of the core 42 toward the other side part 50 in the side part 50 is 1-60°. After that, the member 44 is folded in one side and stuck again toward the other side 50. The sticking of the cords 30 is repeated until an interlacing layer, in which the cords 30 are crossed, is formed in the side part 50. Since the carcass layer having the interlacing layer in the side 50 can be formed by one member 44, the carcass layer can be formed easily, and the rigidity in the tire radial direction can be increased.
