PURPOSE: To provide a pneumatic tire and efficient manufacture therefor in which generation of a rubber notch near sipes formed in a tread can be prevented without injuring the essential performance and the appearance of the tire.

CONSTITUTION: In a pneumatic having a plural number of circumferential grooves 1, 2 formed in a tire tread T in the circumferential direction and a plural number of sipes 5, 6 practically extended in the circumferential direction of the tire, in a center land on the center side of the tread and second lands situated on both cross-directionally outer sides of the center land, it is characterized in such a way that sipes 5, 6 are formed as the maximum depth H1 of the sipe 5 in the center land and the maximum depth H2 of the sipes 6 in the second lands are related to be H1<H2. In manufacturing this tire, a tire forming mold is used, which is equipped with a blade for forming the sipe 5 in the center land and blades for forming the sipes 6 in the second lands, whose respective maximum heights h1, h2 are related to be h1<h2.
