To provide a pneumatic tire of a safety type capable of enhancing run-flat durability compared with a conventional one.
In a folded-back ply 4a of a side wall 10, a rubber reinforcing layer 8 is laid whose hardness is set higher than side wall rubber 2 and having a crescent section sharing and supporting a load. Between a folded-back ply 4a and the rubber reinforcing layer 8, a rubber-nonwoven cloth composite 9 formed by coating a nonwoven cloth composed of a plurality of filament fibers with rubber is laid in a region outside in the tire width direction from the thickness center line GCL of the side wall 10. The rubber-nonwoven cloth composite 9 is embedded in a region between a carcass 4 and the rubber reinforcing layer 8 and outside in the tire width direction from the thickness center line GCL of the side wall 10, and thereby part of a tensile force in the radial direction acting on the side wall 10 at the time of run-flat traveling is shared by the nonwoven cloth to suppress the tensile force acting on a carcass cord, and also in the deflecting deformation part, the opening of the carcass cord can be suppressed.
