Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce tire noises while maintaining the wet grip performance by forming all longitudinal main grooves provided on the tread surface in the sine wave shape with a predetermined pitch length and amplitude and shifting every phase in the sine wave by the generally the same phase among longitudinal main grooves.
SOLUTION: This radial tire for passenger car provided with two or more longitudinal main grooves G (G1, G2) extending circumferentially on a tread 2S of a tread 2. Each longitudinal main groove G has a width of 4.0 to 20.0 mm.-he groove bottom is formed in a sign wave form smoothly extending in the circumferential direction by repeating the maximum and minimum groove depths at a periodic pitch length. The sine wave amplitude of each groove bottom, which is the difference between the maximum and minimum depths, is determined 1.0 mm or more up to the minimum groove depth. And the pitch length is determined 0.5 or more times of the tire length in contact with ground, of pitches, which is the number of repeats all along the tire circumference, is 9 or more. The phase of the sine wave of each groove bottom is differed by generally 2 π/n.
