Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire in which both ends of a carcass ply can be firmly fixed while demonstrating the high effect of weight reduction and suppression of bead damages.
SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire comprises a bead core 5 consisting of core split pieces 20U and 20L to be split into upper and lower portions in the radial direction, a bead apex rubber 8 extending upwardly in the radial direction from an upper surface thereof, and a carcass ply 6A having a series of locking parts 11 in contact with the bead core 5 and locked thereto without providing any return part extending upwardly in the radial direction from the bead core 5 on a body part 10 across the bead cores 5 and 5. The locking part 11 includes a transverse ply portion 30 between the split pieces held between the core split pieces 20U and 20L, and a transverse ply portion 31 between the apex cores held between the bead core 5 and the bead apex rubber 8.
