To provide a pneumatic tire equipped with an enhanced driving stability and abrasion resistance while the rolling resistance is dropped sufficiently.
The arrangement of a conventional pneumatic tire is such that the rubber deformation amount around each end across the width of a belt layer 24 is greater than the other areas when the tire is rolling, and therefore, if a pair of base layers 37 consisting of rubber having a lower JIS hardness are installed in the mentioned area, i.e. in the position straddling the two ends across the width of the belt layer 24, the hysteresis loss in the tread part 15 is lessened efficiently to lead to a sufficient drop of the rolling resistance. Further because only two base layers 37 are installed in the described position, the rigidity of the whole tread part 15 involves less drop, and it is possible to enhance also the driving stability and the abrasion resistance.
