Abstract:
To provide a pod propulsion device capable of improving cooling efficiency.SOLUTION: A pod propulsion device 1 comprises: a pod 3 installed in water; a rotational shaft 7 supported around a prescribed shaft line 3X to be rotatable in the pod 3; a screw 4 fixed to the rotational shaft 7; a dynamo-electric motor 8 integrated in the pod 3 for rotationally driving the rotational shaft 7; a plurality of guide blades 6 formed integrally with the pod 3 with space apart in the peripheral direction of the pod 3 and extending in the radial direction from the outer surface of the pod 3; and a cooling circuit 20 for cooling the dynamo-electric motor 8. The cooling circuit 20 includes a cooling oil passage 22 formed to pass through the inside of at least one of the guide blades 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
