Title:
POKER MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5985
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
A poker machine (otherwise known as a fruit machine or slot machine) having an electronic door switch for detecting opening of the poker machine door to gain access to the machine mechanism. The electronic switch comprises a transmitter 2 and receiver 3 which are preferably photo-optic devices. The transmitter and receiver are located, one on the door, and one on the cabinet adjacent to the door opening, such that when the door is closed a signal path exists between the transmitter and receiver, this path being broken as soon as the door begins to open. A pseudo- random signal transmitted by the transmitter is compared in the control unit 4 of the poker machine with a signal received by the receiver and if these signals match over a predetermined minimum period of time the control unit will accept that the door is closed and allow normal operation of the poker machine to proceed. A mis-match of the transmitted and received signals will indicate to the control unit that the door is open, and normal operation of the poker machine will be prevented by the control unit.
