To provide a polar group-containing 2-alkenyl monomer copolymer that has a high molecular weight and is soluble in a predetermined solvent, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is a copolymer that has monomer structural units of the formulas (1), (2), and (3), and satisfies the following (A), (B), and (C). (A) a copolymer in which the molar ratios l, m, and n satisfy the following equation: 0.1≤[n/(l+m+n)]×100≤65. (B) the weight average molecular weight Mw is 10,000 to 1,000,000.
