PURPOSE: To provide a polarized electron beam generating device obtaining high quantum efficiency under a condition difficult in controlling an optical thickness of a reflecting layer and an optical resonator.
CONSTITUTION: A sample holder 34 of a polarized electron beam generating device is constituted by screwing a bottomed cylindrical sample holding member 56 to a turning member 54. In one surface toward the inside of a vacuum housing 26 in a bottom part of the sample holding member 56, a counterbore part 58 is provided to store a polarized electron beam generating element 10. This polarized electron beam generating element 10 is fixed into the counterbore part 58 by a retaining plate 60 for retaining a peripheral edge part of this element and by a cap 62 of L-shaped section screwed to the sample holding member 56 while holding this retaining plate 60. The turning member 54 is provided with a worm wheel 68 meshed with a worm 66 rotated by a motor 36, and by rotating the worm 66, the turning member is turned around an axis vertical to a paper surface in the drawing with a central part of surface of the polarized electron beam generating element 10 serving as the center.
