PURPOSE: To provide the polarizing plate which has both of an excellent polarization characteristic and heat ray shielding function, has high durability and is easily produced by containing near IR absorption dyestuff having the maximal absorption peak between specific wavelengths.
CONSTITUTION: This polarizing plate which consists of an org. resin polymer as a base material and is imparted with the polarization characteristic by using dichromatic dyes contains the near IR absorption dyestuff having the max. absorption peak between wavelengths of 700nm and 1800nm. The org. resin polymer is exemplified by resins having high transparency and easy orientability of the dichromatic dyestuff, such as arom. polyesters including polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, etc., having excellent heat resistance, moisture resistance and transparency. The dichromatic dyestuff is exemplified by anthraquinone dyestuff, quinonphthalone dyestuff, perylene dyestuff, etc. The IR absorption dyestuff is not particularly limited, insofar as the dyestuff is dyestuff having the maximal absorption peak at ≥7000nm and <1800nm.
