Abstract:

To protect a polarizer of a polarizing plate from external moisture and UV even when a protective coat of the polarizing plate is thinned.

This polarizing plate 4 comprises a polarizer 2 and a protective coat 3 disposed on the polarizer 2, wherein the protective coat 3 comprises a cured product obtained by polymerizing a photopolymerizable compound and a UV absorbent. Even when the protective coat 3 is thinned to ≤40 μm, UV is absorbed by the UV absorbent, whereby the polarizer 2 is protected. Since the cured product of the photopolymerizable compound is excellent in toughness as well as in ability to intercept moisture, etc., the polarizer 2 is protected from moisture and physical shocks as well as from UV, therefore the polarizing plate 4 has high durability.
