Abstract:
To provide a polarizing plate with a retardation layer, with which cracks of the retardation layer are suppressed while maintaining excellent optical characteristics.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate with a retardation layer pertaining to the present invention comprises: a polarizing plate including a polarizer, a first protective layer provided on one side of the polarizer and a second protective layer provided on the other side of the polarizer; and a retardation layer pasted to the second protective layer side of the polarizing plate via an adhesive layer. In this polarizing plate with the retardation layer, a gap is formed at an edge, the gap extending from the retardation layer to at least a portion of the second protective layer in the thickness direction and extending in a direction intersecting the slow axis direction of the retardation layer in the surface direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
