To show an excellent follow-up property as in the peripheral direction and the longitudinal direction of a pipe, to polish the stainless steel pipe in a large polishing pressure, and to obtain a polishing surface of a stable quality.
On the other side surface of a metal pedestal 6 where a grinding wheel 5 is fixed to one side surface, a flange 7 where a rotary shaft 9 is fixed vertical is provided oppositely. A spring 10 allowable to expand and contract in the axial direction of the rotary shaft 9 is provided between the metal pedestal 6 and the flange 7, and the rotary shaft 9 is connected to a fluid pressure adding mechanism (an air pressure cylinder 2) through a driving shaft 8. A coil spring is inserted to a screw rod fixed vertically on the other side surface of the metal pedestal 6, and the height of the coil spring is regulated by changing the screwing condition of a nut screwed onto the screw rod projecting from the hole provided on the flange 7. Consequently, since a spring elasticity and a fluid pressure are used concurrently, the generation of a hunting phenomenon can be suppressed even under a high speed rotating condition, so as to grinding-finish the pipe surface in a high quality.
