Abstract:
To provide a polyamide-coated carbon fiber which is suitable for reinforcing a thermoplastic resin and is excellent in adhesion to a matrix resin, especially to a thermoplastic resin, in a carbon fiber-reinforced resin composite material prepared by using the polyamide-coated carbon fiber; and a method for producing the polyamide-coated carbon fiber.
On the surface of a carbon fiber of which the hydroxy group concentration COH/C, obtained by the peak resolution of a C1s spectrum obtained by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, is 0.05-0.15, a polyamide precursor monomer is subjected to vapor phase polymerization. Thus, a polyamide formed is chemically bonded to the surface of the carbon fiber, giving the polyamide-coated carbon fiber.
