A polyarylate resin includes repeating units represented by general formula (1) and repeating units represented by general formula (2). In general formulae (1) and (2), R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. In general formula (2), X represents a bivalent group represented by chemical formula (2A), (2B), (2C), or (2D). An electrophotographic photoreceptor (100) comprises an electroconductive substrate (101) and a photosensitive layer (102).
