PURPOSE: To obtain the titled novel resin, consisting of a resin containing skeletal units of a specific structure, having particularly improved weather resistance and excellent electrical characteristics, rich in chemical and heat resistance and capable of withstanding outdoor use.
CONSTITUTION: The aimed resin consisting of skeletal units of a structure expressed by the formula (Ar is arylene; R1 and R2 are 1W4C alkylene; S is sulfur atom; O is oxygen atom; x is 0W4). Furthermore, the above-mentioned aimed resin is preferably obtained by polymerizing xylylene chloride with sodium sulfide in, e.g. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, using sodium benzoate, etc., as a polymerization assistant to synthesize poly-p-xylylene sulfide and melt molding the resultant polymer, etc.
