To provide a polyaxial bone anchoring device for stably anchoring a head and a rod.
In a polyaxial bone anchoring device, in a first configuration, a first locking member 9 and a second locking member 10 are rotationally fixed relative to each other such that by rotating the second locking member in a first direction, the first locking element 9 is advanced to be in contact with a pressurizing member 7 configured to apply a pressure to the head in order to lock the head at at least the surface part of a second end 92 of the first locking member 9. In a second configuration, the second locking member 10 is rotatable within the first locking member such that by rotating the second locking member in the first direction, the second locking member 10 is advanced to be in contact with the rod at at least the surface part of a second end of the second locking member 10.
