Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved polyaxial bone anchoring device with an enlarged pivot angle that provides a very low insertion force of a bone anchoring element into a receiving part and more flexibility in use.SOLUTION: A polyaxial bone anchoring device is provided which comprises an anchoring element 1 having a shank 2 for anchoring in the bone and a head 3, a receiving part 4 configured to be pivotably connected to the head 3, a sleeve-like insert piece 5 configured to be positioned around a portion of the head 3 and to pivot in the receiving part 4. The sleeve-like insert piece 5 comprises at least a first part 510 and a second part 520 that are connected together through a guiding structure 51 that permits the first part 510 to move relative to the second part 520 only in a direction transverse to a sleeve axis S.
