Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polybutylene terephthalate excellent in hydrolysis resistance and heat stability and desirable for electrical and electronic materials, automobile components, etc., used at high humidity and high temperature.
CONSTITUTION: This polybutylene terephthalate is one having titanium present in the state in which the ratio of the high energy side peak intensity (at near 4.983keV) to the low energy side peak intensity (at near 4.978keV) at the splitted peak near 4.98keV equivalent to the K absorption end of titanium is above 1 when the background is subtracted from an X-ray near absorption end structure (XANES) of an X-ray absorption fine structure analysis (XAFS) and differentiating the spectral curve to form the 1st order derivative and having a content of terminal vinyl groups of below 8 eq/ton and an intrinsic viscosity IV of 0.6 or above.
