PURPOSE: To provide a polycarbodiimide-contg. two-component coating compsn. comprising an acrylic resin-contg. first liq. and a polycarbodiimide-contg. second liquid, which can yield an interruption-free clear coat having improved appearance and sagging resistance without using any rheology additive.

CONSTITUTION: This polycarbodiimide-contg. two-component coating compsn. comprises: a first liq. comprising an acrylic resin having an acid radical and a hydroxyl group and additives selected from among solvents, UV stabilizers, antioxidants, catalysts, fluidizers, hindered amine photostabilizers, and mixtures thereof; and s second liq. comprising a polycarbodiimide, optionally a crosslinking agent selected from polyisocyanate, aminoplast, and mixtures thereof, and additives selected from among solvent, fluidizers, hindered amine photostabilizers, UV absorbers, and mixtures thereof. Pref., the acrylic resin having an acid radical or a hydroxyl group is prepd. by polymerizing 1 to 5 (wt.)% ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid, 20 to 35% hydroxyl-contg. ethylenically unsatd. monomer, and 60 to 80% other ethylenically unsatd. monomer.
