To obtain a polyester bottle capable of hot fill, capable of refill after being washed with an alkaline hot water and capable of volume reduction by compression, folding, etc., by molding a specified polyester resin.
An acid component comprising 3-100mol.%, based on the entire acid component, 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid or its esterifiable derivative (e.g. dimethyl 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) is reacted with a glycol component (e.g. ethylene glycol) to produce a polyester resin of a glass transition temperature of 80°C or above. This resin is molded by e.g. injection blowing or direct blowing to obtain a polyester bottle. This bottle can be folded to such a degree that the volume of the bottle is decreased to 70% or below of the initial volume with a force of 10kgf or below, and therefore the efficiency of transportation of recovered empty bottles is excellent.
