To obtain the subject molded article which has excellent transparency, gas barrier property, heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, and aroma- retaining property, and is useful as a container for food and beverage, by suppressing free, low-mol.-wt. compd. in the molded article down to a low concn. content.
A molded article is constituted of a polyester resin having a main repeating unit of ethylene terephthalate and limited to such contents of free, low-mol.-wt. compds. therein as follows: acetic acid 50 ppb or less; formic acid 50 ppb or less; free ethylene glycol 25 ppm or less; free monohydroxyethyl terephthalate 50 ppm or less and free bishydroxyethyl terephthalate 100 ppm or less, and besides, the both totaled 100 ppm or less; free bishydroxyethyl terephthalate dimer 200 ppm or less; acetaldehyde 50 ppm or less; formaldehyde 10 ppm or less; cyclic trimer 0.5 wt.% or less; and copolymerized diethylene glycol 1.0-5.0 mole % on the basis of the glycol component.
