Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester resin which is excellent in adhesion to a polyester film, etc., and in strength and water resistance and is useful in a paint or an adhesive.
CONSTITUTION: The process comprises depolymerizing 100 pts.wt. linear polyester resin having a number-average mol.wt. of 6,000 or higher and synthesized from an acid component comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and/or an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and an alcohol component comprising a dihydric alcohol with 0.2-10 pts.wt. hydroxycarboxylic acid having three or more hydroxy and carboxyl groups, and polycondensing the resulting branches polyester resin under a reduced pressure to heighten the weight-average mol.wt. to 20,000 or higher.
