Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new polyglucosicle having such characteristics as biodegradability, nonpoisonousness and the absence of skin irritating action and useful for a detergent, toiletries, cosmetics, etc.

CONSTITUTION: The compd. of the formula [where R is 6-20C alkyl and (n) is 0-20] such as hydroxydecylsorbitol polyglucoside is obtd., e.g. by introducing a hydroxyalkylsorbitol into a reactor and glucosidizing it at 120°C and 60 mmHg residual pressure in the presence of an acid catalyst.
