Title:
POLYGONAL SECTION END MILL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3971475
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out high speed cutting of a high hard material to be cut by constituting tool quality of hard sintered alloy and constituting a tool of an integral material continued along an overall polygonal periphery.
SOLUTION: A tool material is constituted of a solid CBN sintered body fastened on hard metal to be a shank, and a sectional shape of a blade part is orthohexagonal. A cutting edge is formed of a ridge 2 made in the axial direction by each of top points shaft orthogonal sections of which are orthohexagonal. Two pieces of projected edges 3 arranged on an end surface of a tool main body 1 are provided with flat surfaces with an inclination of about 5° so as to respectively divide the end surface in half from the top points at symmetrical positions. Consequently, it comes to be possible to carry out high speed cutting, simultaneously to increase feeding speed and to shorten machining time. As it is constituted of an integral material continued along an overall polygonal periphery in this way, it is especially suitable for a small diametrical end mill.
