Abstract:

To provide a poly(3-hydroxyalkanoic acid) having a specific side chain, a manufacturing method thereof, and a binder resin containing the same.

The manufacturing method comprises using as a raw material a compound expressed by the formula (24), and making a polymer of the general formula: [CHRCH2C(=0)]n (wherein, R is alkylthioalkyl) by means of a specific microorganism, and, if necessary, then altering the R to an alkylsulsulfoxyalkyl or an alkylsulfonylalkyl by an oxidation reaction. The binder resin containing such a polymer is for a toner for use in an electrostatic developing.
