Abstract:
To provide a method for making a polymer composition suitable for production of a molding exhibiting a desirable combination of low haze and high gloss.SOLUTION: A method for making a polymer composition comprises the steps of: (a) providing a polypropylene random copolymer; (b) providing a polymer additive selected from a group consisting of nucleating agents, clarifying agents, and combinations thereof; (c) providing a fluoropolymer; and (d) mixing the polypropylene random copolymer, the polymer additive and the fluoropolymer and mechanically processing a mixture under shear conditions to produce the polymer composition having (i) apparent melt viscosity of about 200 Pa s or less at an apparent shear rate of 1,000 s-1 and a temperature of 190°C, and (ii) apparent melt viscosity of 2,550 Pa s or less at an apparent shear rate of 20 s-1 and a temperature of 190°C.SELECTED DRAWING: None
