To obtain a polymer-containing solution having sufficient uniformity of a polymer in solution and being capable of forming a uniform polymer film on a solid surface such as a magnetic recording medium by dissolving or dispersing a fluoropolymer or another filmforming polymer in a solvent containing a trihydrofluorocarbon.
The film-forming polymer is exemplified by a fluoroolefin polymer, a chlorofluoroolefin polymer, especially tetrafluoroethylene polymer, a silicone resin or a polyolefin resin and is-one which forms a film excellent in lubricating properties, non-cohesive properties, water repellency and oil repellency. The trihydrocarbon is represented by the formula (wherein Rf1 and Rf2 are each a perfluoroalkyl, or they may be bonded to each other to form a ring) and is desirably a 5 C cyclic trihydrofluorocarbon. The solvent containing the trihydrofluorocarbon is able to uniformly dissolve or disperse a polymer into a markedly stable solution or dispersion.
