PURPOSE: To provide a dyestuff having specified structure that exhibits stronger fluorescence than conventional polymer dyestuffs and is useful as a marker for biological substances such as a DNA probe in a DNA probe test.
CONSTITUTION: The dyestuff of formula I (wherein, A is a water-soluble constitutional block; B is a fluorescent dye covalent-bonded through an acid amide etc.; C is an aromatic constitutional block, or complementary to the fluorescent dye B, and the second fluorescent dye covalent-bonded through an ester etc.; D is a constitutional block of a monomer which covalent-bonds to protein and as required to the component B and/or C; a-d represent wt.% of the components A-D and make 100 in total). As the components A, B, C, and D, 2- acryloylamino-2-methyl-propane sulfonic acid etc., a cumarine of formula II (wherein, R1 is an O-alkyl etc.; R2 is H, etc.; R3 is phenyl etc.), sodium styrene sulfonate, and (meth)acroyl chlride etc., are preferable, respectively.
